Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting the vehicle. This agreement outlines key terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements to Rent a Vehicle
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Antrim, you must be at least 21 years old, although this may vary based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence corresponding to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will need to present valid payment information and a security deposit, and comply with any further stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be made via our website, by phone, or at our Antrim location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon collection of the vehicle. All charges are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. It is expected that the vehicle will be returned in the same condition as when collected, acknowledging normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as it had at the start of your rental; refueling fees will be applied if this is not met. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please notify us promptly if you anticipate returning the vehicle later than planned. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with a corresponding administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial liability. It's advisable to examine these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that cancellations made late or no-shows could incur additional fees.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-road driving, or any dangerous maneuvers is not allowed. The transport of hazardous materials is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purpose and within specified passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Antrim will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for your rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Antrim. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Antrim courts.
10. Updates to Terms
